Winemaker’s Notes

Grown in our historic orchard and sloped vineyard on the South Fork Coppei Creek, this Riesling reflects the light gold wheat, aromas of pear, and wine connections to the Hansen family’s land. Now the home of Stella’s Homestead and our resident cats, our farm is nestled in the foothills of southeastern Washington’s Blue Mountains. Our winery name Dona Stella comes from Brazilian influences cherished by Cheryl’s time there and harkens back to her high school nickname.

Our Label

Perched against a background of Stella's Homestead signature barn, the cat on Dona Stella's wine label appears as a storied part of the wine on several levels. Calico, the 21-year-old farm cat who was the inspiration for the illustration, roams freely throughout the farm patrolling for rodents and showering friends and family with affection. In fact, Calico's personality and legendary presence is such a part of the place that one of the remodeled guest houses is named Calico's Chicken House. The label's illustration captures the people, animals, and place that gave rise to Dona Stella Wines—and the vision of Cheryl who continues to build a one-of-a-kind experience for her guests and customers that is an homage to past, present and future possibilities.
